3C16910 – 3COM 24-PORTÂ SUPERSTACK-II SWITCH 3800
Features & Benefits
With the 3Com® SuperStack® II Switch 3800, midsize networks can enjoy affordable, leading-edge Layer 3 switching-with unrivalled intranet performance and multimedia application support. Layer 3 switching technology delivers 10 times the performance of standard intranet traffic routing. Wire-speed Layer 3 switching (IP routing) and Layer 2 switching intelligence embedded in the switch’s ASICs forward any-to-any intranet traffic at nonblocking speed while broadcast and multicast traffic and fault propagation are kept under control in appropriate subnetworks. Elastic port buffering dynamically allocates port buffer memory to optimize performance based on network traffic. The SuperStack II Switch 3800 aggregates traffic from Ethernet and Fast Ethernet workgroups to a server farm or a corporate backbone through a Gigabit Ethernet high-speed link. The switch also removes router bottlenecks that occur in corporate networks when high-speed any-to-any intranet traffic chokes software-based legacy routers. For new levels of capacity, control, and cost effectiveness to enterprise networks, choose the SuperStack II Switch 3800
Full-line-rate, nonblocking routing performance on all ports at all times (over 5 million IP pps), combined with standards-based RIP and RIP version 2 routing protocol support, boosts intranet/extranet traffic performance to up to 10 times the speed of legacy routing
Full, flexible Virtual LAN (VLAN) implementation support includes protocol-based VLANs to filter legacy protocols and IEEE 802.1Q-based VLANs with individual Spanning Tree support
Industry-standard IEEE 802.1p Class of Service support prioritizes traffic through the network for multimedia and/or mission-critical applications
Fault-tolerant features include a physically redundant gigabit port when used with
the optional gigabit interface connector (GBIC), trunking of multiple load-sharing links, and Spanning Tree domain support
